Superman Is Dead New Album...

Superman Is Dead’s Angels and The Outsiders out Oct 2008

And before we jump to the main topic, one thing we must admit, the beginning of this year 2008 and half of 2007 was disaster for Superman Is Dead! Semua terasa berat.

Don't ever fuck with that old saying coz we are the living proof. Setelah hampir setahun hancur lebur dihajar depresi dan segenap negativitas-nya, perlahan kita seperti kembali menemukan jati diri kita, siapa kita dan apa yang kita inginkan. Ditengah rasa sakit kita banyak belajar tentang hidup.
We're so so lucky to have you!
Nuansa kecintaan terhadap pada anak-anak kita pertahankan dalam lirik-lirik jujur Saint Of My Life [feat.Alit Anima on organ], Fly Away, danThe Days Of A Father. Punkrock sayang keluarga. Haha.
Aneh? You'll be the judge. Tak usah terlalu lama terjebak dalam kesedihan karena kita akan menggebrak pesta pesta liar jalanan dengan Brandal Poppies 2 [based on a true fuckin story], Punkrock Lowrider, Twice In Paradise dan Jika Kami Bersama, sebuah masterpiece dimana SID untuk pertama kalinya berkolaborasi penuh dengan Jogjakarta kings Shaggy Dog. This track is guaranteed gonna bring your ass right to the party!

Cheers!

Vidi Aldiano

NUANSA BENING

oh tiada yang hebat dan mempesona

ketika kau lewat di hadapanku

biasa saja

waktu perkenalan terjalin sudah

ada yang menarik pancaran diri

terus mengganggu

mendengar cerita sehari-hari

yang wajar tapi tetap mengasyikkan

oh tiada kejutan pesona diri

pertama kujabat jemari tanganmu

biasa saja

masa perkenalan lewatlah sudah

ada yang menarik bayang-bayangmu

tak mau pergi

dirimu nuansa-nuansa ilham

hamparan laut tiada bertepi

kini terasa sungguh

semakin engkau jauh

semakin terasa dekat

akan tumbuh kembangkan

kasih yang kau tanam

di dalam hatiku

menatap nuansa-nuansa bening

jelasnya doa bercita

About Herman Li

BIOGRAPHY

Herman Li is the guitarist behind those over the top hyper guitar fretwork, and part of the recording production core of all DragonForce records.

Born in Hong Kong, Herman is a self-taught musician, learning mostly from listening to his favourite music and watching videos.

After having played in a number of underground rock and metal bands in London, Herman decided the only way for him to move forward, is to form a band instead of joining one. In the summer of 1999, Herman found a number of musicians in the UK to kick start a new band now known worldwide as DRAGONFORCE.

In between intensive world tours with DragonForce, Herman found time to write a monthly guitar column in UK's Total Guitar magazine. He has also given many guitar clinics around the world, showcasing his own approach to the instrument to help inspire guitarists around the globe. As well as evolving as a player, Herman likes to understand his instrument as much as possible. He is heavily involved in electric guitar development, working on new ideas to improve the instrument as much as possible.

Herman won the 'Best Shredder' award at the annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2005. Together with Sam Totman, Herman recently won four categories in Guitar World's Readers Poll 2007 for 'Best New Talent' (winning by 70%), 'Best Metal', 'Best Riff' and 'Best Shredders'. They also won 'Best Guitar Solo' with Through the Fire and Flames in Total Guitar's readers' poll 2007 and numerous polls in other printed and online press around the world. Herman and guitar partner Sam Totman have been playing together for years, the dual is currently making a huge impact in today's modern rock and metal scene.

Year 2007 started nicely with Herman receiving an invitation to perform as special guest with guitar legend Steve Vai at the Ibanez Jem/RG model 20th Anniversary show in Hollywood, California. As well as playing on Steve Vai’s set, Herman shared the stage on the evening all star jam with guitar heroes such as Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Tony MacAlpine and Andy Timmons.

Outside of music, Herman's interests includes technology, martial arts and when not touring, enjoys training in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu five days a week. He also speaks three languages fluently.

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

The Story Behind the Song

Stairway to Heaven was the song that everyone wanted to learn when I first started playing the guitar. It was the one song that could define you as a good guitarist among your peers.
Stairway to Heaven was written by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. They began recording in 1970 and the project was slowly brought to completion one year later in 1971 (after the lyrics were added.) Here are some interesting facts about Stairway to Heaven...
  • It was performed by Led Zeppelin for the very first time in conjunction with the first concert they gave in Northern Ireland at Belfast's Ulster Hall.
  • It is cited as the most played song on FM radio stations in the United States, despite never being released as a single there.
  • Stairway to Heaven is one of the most well-known popular songs in rock and roll history, despite the fact that it was never released as a single.
  • It is the biggest-selling single piece of sheet music clocking up an average of 15,000 copies yearly.
  • It is considered by many to be one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time.
  • The opening chord progression in Stairway to Heaven is nearly identical to the 1968 instrumental "Taurus" by the group Spirit.
Some critics have accused Led Zeppelin of recording a hidden Satanic message in Stairway To Heaven that can be heard when it's played backward. The band has ignored such claims for the most part. Singer/composer Robert Plant replied to a question on this subject by saying:
"To me it's very sad, because 'Stairway To Heaven' was written with every best intention, and as far as reversing tapes and putting messages on the end, that's not my idea of making music."

Swan Song Records also issued the following statement at the time which said:

"Our turntables only play in one direction—forwards."
I personally don't believe there is anything sinister at all about the song Stairway to Heaven. The words are really quite thought provoking. It begins with words about living a life that is only satisfied with material things...
"There's a lady is sure,
all that glitters is gold,
and she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows,
if the stores are all closed,
with a word she can get what she came for."

As the song progresses it becomes more reflective and even somewhat spiritual...

"Your head is hummin' and it won't go, in case you don't know,
the piper's calling you to join him.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run,
there's still time to change the road you're on."
I guess everyone must decide for themselves how they feel about this song. As a guitar teacher, I definitley think it's worth learning because it is a true rock and roll classic.
If you're just beginning to learn guitar, you might find Stairway to Heaven a bit of a challenge to play, but it's not impossible. Those of you who have been playing for awhile shouldn't have any problem. Of course, if your in a band, then this song is a must to know as it is a great crowd pleaser. You will definitely gain recognition and a good response if you can play it well.
